Spirits like bloodsong, pain, vampirism truly do suck in PvE. They do minimal, slow damage to one target at a time. There's always a better more effective skill for a rit in PvE. The only offensive spirit maybe worth having is Destruction. If you really wanna go offensive spirits in PvE, and don't mind sucking, then Ritual Lord looks good. In PvP that's fine, since 99% of rits are noobs running around spamming pain/bloodsong/shadowsong/wanderlust anyway.
Anyways here's the build i use in PvE, it does mass damage and can be good utility where necessary.
First 2 skills can either be:
[skill]attuned was songkai[/skill][skill]Channeled Strike[/skill]
-or-
[skill]mighty was vorizun[/skill][skill]caretaker's charge[/skill]
Then
[skill]spirit rift[/skill]
[skill]ancestors' rage[/skill]
[skill]splinter weapon[/skill]
[optional spirit slot, i usually bring [skill]empowerment[/skill] or [skill]destruction[/skill]]
[utility slot, usually [skill]remove hex[/skill]]
[skill]flesh of my flesh[/skill]
edit: might want to bring [skill]draw spirit[/skill] if you're going to use destruction, instead of remove hex or whatever you decide to use with that slot.

Thank you for your opinion. While it is valued I would like to stick to my idea of being a spirt lord in PvE.

Rit Lord is pretty useless, since all the damage spirits that matter have close to 100% uptime anyway. If you want damaging spirits, grab 5 offensive spirits, summon spirits, energy management, and painful bond. Mash 12345, then stand around until all the red dots go away.

And what spirits would you suggest outside Vaperism, Pain and bloodsong? Also what would you suggest for e-management?

[skill]pain[/skill][skill]bloodsong[/skill][skill]anguish[/skill]vampirism[skill]shadowsong[/skill][skill]offering of spirit[/skill][skill]painful bond[/skill]summon spirits
Or you spec spawning power and take a mix of offensive and defensive spirits.
I know it doesn't matter, but I feel like I should mention that spirit spam is perhaps the least effective and flexible way to play the rit class.

Oh I know, I have other builds to fall back on if I decide I'm not overly fond of spirit spamming, but I think it looks fun, so I wanna try it out.

although everybody on this forum hates Spirit Spamming,
I like it especially the build Dr strange love suggests 2 post up
I only trade shadowsong for a weapon spell(splinter/dwarven) or ancestor's.
despite what people say it is still strong

I think there's a bit of a rift in the thoughts over spirit spamming...
Defensive spirit spamming (which was the true use for Ritual Lord) is for the most part dead, given the numerous nerfs to spirit health and energy cost of the defensive spirits.
Offensive spirit spamming is alive and well, but can severely slow down your group if you aren't teaming with H/H. The issue is that even with H/H, chances are you're going to be slicing through PvE opponents quicker than the set up time it takes to get your spirit wall going.
Personally, I use a mix of defensive and offensive spirits, but Ritual Lord really doesn't find a place in my build given some of the decent alternatives described above (especially Weapon of Remedy, my true love).

Oh man, oh man.
Occasionaly, I have fun with this build with ritual lord.
[skill]Dissonance[/skill], [skill]Shadowsong[/skill], [skill]Union[/skill], [skill]Pain[/skill], [skill]RITUAL LORD[/skill], [skill]Boon of Creation[/skill], [skill]Mighty was Vorizun[/skill], REZZZ
This point is to use the spirits for their effects (interruption, blind, defense) then to do subpar damage.
With high spawning, dissonsance recharges in like 16 secs, and the other too, so you can kick some serious butt.
It's worked well for me, at least.

Spirit Spam CAN do reasonable damage... if you don't mind spending an hour setting up the spirits.
True Story: I recently was replaying some Prophecies mission-Sanctum Cay, I think-and I had another rit in my group. She was a smart player, but whenever we encountered a mob, she would say "Hang on, let me summon my spirits" and I just waited, bored out of my mind, until she finished. I'm able to do similar damage to the mob that her spirits were with my favorite skill: Spirit Rift. We beat the mission, but it took way longer than it should have.
Spirits ARE very useful, just use them sparingly.
EDIT: Here's the build I use in PvE and AB. Hope it helps.
Channeling Magic: 12+1+3
Restoration Magic: 12
All remaining points dumped into Spawning Power.
Skillz:
[card]Bloodsong[/card]
[card]Spirit Light[/card]
[card]Offering of Spirit[/card]
[card]Spirit Rift[/card]
[card]Cruel Was Daoshen[/card]
[card]Ancestors' Rage[/card]
[card]Vengeful Weapon[/card]
[card]Flesh of My Flesh[/card]
The idea here is to inflict a large AoE spike with Spirit Rift, Cruel Was Daoshen, and Ancestors' Rage. Spirit Light and Vengeful weapon for self-heals, Offering for E-management. Bloodsong removes the health penalty of Sprit light and Offering.

Just use the Pve Skill Summon Spirits
And recast hem in battle, makes things quite quick.

Boon of creation. 5 energy spirits actually result in you gaining some energy. Normally, you'd spec heavy into communing and spawning power, taking vampirism and pain for your main damage dealers while having other support spirits.

To be honest, Spirit Lord is absolutely trash if your using it to upkeep offensive spirits. It's absolutely great however, if you use it for Recuperation/Shelter/Union. I would definitely use Offering of Spirit instead of Spirit Lord if your delving into the offensive spirit line. But that's just me. I would try Attuned was Songkai if you want energy management all the time, it's like Expertise on roids.
